BP wanted to change the way they developed systems away from the more traditional waterfall to more agile methods.
How did we help?
From our experience of developing methods and agile projects, we formed a cross BP stakeholder group and developed an iterative method. This method drew on industry standards that included DSDM, Rational and Scrum. The method was developed using an iterative approach that delivered releases of the method as a series of Sprints. In addition to the method we developed a scaling tool that produced different sets of deliverables for different types of projects. Access to the method was via the BP SharePoint site.
Benefits to BP
The iterative method enables BP to develop systems as a set of early releases delivering business benefit earlier than in traditional lifecycles. It also enables BP to work more closely with the business community thereby ensuring that systems are being aligned to the rapid changing priorities.
